Stick with us on this, because we didn’t know what a “Trope” was either. Initially we thought it was some awful dish served up in the highlands of Scotland, however we soon realised we were thinking of Tripe (still awful!). Anyway, a trope is a storytelling device or convention, a shortcut for describing situations the storyteller can reasonably assume the audience will recognize. This site collects and lists tropes, from random trivia to an overdose of tropes (normally confusing the viewer) so have a rummage around. We definitely learnt something new today.
